The Hemophilia Treatment Team consists of specialty trained medical personnel in order to provide comprehensive care to the patient.  The team includes:

 

  • a hematologist with experience in the management of bleeding disorders
  •  
  • laboratory support to monitor coagulation testing
  •  
  • a nurse with experience in emergency advice regarding infusions
  •  
  • a social worker to help manage insurance questions and family issues
  •  
  • a physical therapist with specialization in devising exercise plans and measuring small changes in joint mobility in order to preserve an active patient lifestyle
  •  
  • a dentist who is able to perform procedures on patients with bleeding disorders
  •  
  • an orthopedic specialist with experience in joint replacement surgery and complications commonly associated with hemophiliac joint damage
  •  
  • a medical assistant to assist in team coordination, medication questions, insurance authorization
