Dr. Rinah Shopnick Medical Director
Dr. Shopnick completed undergraduate training at The University of Michigan and Wayne State University. She then completed her medical degree at The New York Institute of Technology - New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Wanting to return to the midwest, she finished a residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where she remained on staff as a clinical consultant for an additional year. In order to pursue her dream of specializing in clotting disorders, she completed a fellowship in hematology with postdoctoral research fellowship at The Albany Medical College. A short three hour ride to Worcester brought her to The University of Massachusetts and The New England Hemophilia Center where she was active in residency training, receiving teacher of the year award.
Looking to avoid the 130 inches of snow that year, they accepted a position in Las Vegas, Nevada where Dr. Shopnick decided that Nevada needed a specialty center for treatment of patients with bleeding and clotting disorders. After several years of hard work with much support from coworkers and hospital administration, the hemophilia treatment center and Coumadin clinics are bursting at their seams. Dr. Shopnick is on faculty at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and acts as Director of Medical Education for Touro Medical School in Henderson at the University Medical School site. As such, she is active in residency and medical student teaching at the University Medical Center. She has authored many publications on clotting disorders, and presented her research at international meetings.
