Fixed dose standard unfractionated heparin administered subcutaneously for bridge therapy

Recently an article demonstrated that fixed dose standard unfractionated heparin administered subcutaneously for initial treatment of deep vein thrombosis is effective.  To further this indication, patients will randomized to standard bridge therapy with low molecular weight heparin on a weight based nomogram or fixed dose standard unfractionated heparin to evaluate efficacy and outcome.

This study will begin at University Medical Center in early 2007.
